Release 5.5 offers a number of significant enhancements to the product:

SequeLink Server enhancements:

  • New SequeLink Server for JDBC Socket:
    • Provides access to any databases that are accessible through a JDBC 2.0 or higher driver
    • Includes a set of utilities to provide easier installation
  • Greater scalability and performance using a thread-pool engine
  • Idle timeout mechanism for all SequeLink Servers
  • SequeLink Server for DB2 UDB on z/OS:
    • UID mapping on data source level
    • Threadpool monitoring
    • Support for explicit batches
    • Improved installation procedure creates distinct distribution data set and SequeLink Server-specific data sets
    • Certified against DB2 UDB for z/OS v8 (compatibility mode)
    • Certified against DB2 UDB for z/OS v8 (new function mode)
    • Improved performance by using array fetch and array insert features of DB2 UDB v8
  • SequeLink Server for DB2 UDB on Windows/Linux/UNIX:
    • DB2 UDB v8 support
    • Enhanced performance, including reduced network traffic, caching metadata, and reduced database calls
  • SequeLink Server for Oracle is certified against Oracle10g
  • SequeLink Server for ODBC Socket enhancements:
    • Includes the DataDirect Driver Manager on UNIX
    • Includes a set of utilities to provide easier installation
    • Optimizes performance by reducing ODBC calls to the backend ODBC driver
    • Provides specific support for third-party ODBC drivers such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Access, Cincom Supra, Progress, and DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation
    • Support for keyset-driven cursors can be enabled

SequeLink Client for JDBC:

  • J2EE certified
  • JDK 1.5 enabled
  • Allows applications to dynamically enable and disable DataDirect Spy
  • Limited parameter metadata support for databases that do not natively support parameter metadata
  • Scrollable sensitive cursor support
  • Enhanced internationalization support for Japanese code pages

SequeLink Client for ODBC:

  • Performance enhancements include:
    • Reduced network traffic by caching of metadata
    • Arrays of parameter support
  • Keyset-driven cursor support
  • Improved internationalization support includes:
    • ICU 2.8 support
    • Support for UTF-16 Unicode applications on UNIX
  • Enhanced internationalization support for Japanese code pages

SequeLink Client for ADO:

  • is qualified with all SequeLink Servers

SequeLink Client for .NET:

  • Enhanced connection pooling
  • Microsoft-compatible connection pooling

Release 5.4:

ODBC

  • 64-bit ODBC clients on Solaris and AIX
  • Improved internationalization, including support for Unicode ODBC functions, allowing Unicode connectivity between applications and the database server (for all databases except Informix and DB2 on z/OS)
  • SQLDescribeParam support (for all databases except Oracle and Informix).

JDBC

  • Broader JDBC 3.0 support:
    • Updated interfaces for LOBs (for DB2, Informix, and Oracle)
    • LOB emulation for SQL Server and Sybase
    • Support for multiple open ResultSet objects

ADO.NET

  • Improved internationalization features
  • Support for data scrambling algorithms (byteswap and fixed key DES/3DES)
  • Support for ODBC escapes.
  • Verification of ADO.NET client with Socket Server opens up the range of data stores accessible from a managed provider environment
  • Support for parameter arrays

All APIs

  • Improved performance and reduced CPU consumption for the SequeLink server for DB2 on z/OS

Support for the latest operating systems and database versions and features

  • Informix 9.4
  • DB2 UDB v8.1 (also was supported with SequeLink 5.3, Service Pack 1)
  • Oracle 9i R2
  • Support for Windows Server 2003 32-bit for all SequeLink clients and servers
