The DataDirect OpenAccess for ODBC for Salesforce Data Source can be licensed for either a single workstation user or server basis.
Workstation License - Means the ODBC client is licensed to run on any version of Microsoft's workstation operating system that runs on the x/86 CPU architecture. (e.g., Windows XP). The workstation license is meant to be used from an application that is used by one user at a time. It is not licensed to be used as a gateway to facilitate moving of data for multiple users between Salesforce and another database. For example, it cannot be used to create a Microsoft Access application that will load data for multiple users from Salesforce into SQL Server. This requires licensing the Server version.
Server License - Means the ODBC client is licensed to run on any version of Microsoft's Server operating systems that runs on the x86 CPU architecture. (i.e. 2000 Server, 2003 Server). This licensing is also required for workstation usage that involves accessing multiple user's data in order to populate another database.
