• Learn about the provider Factory model – DBProviderFactory
• Using enumeration to identify providers installed on the machine
• Write an application using the Common Programming Model
• Database portability via the Common Programming Model
• Modify an existing application to leverage a different database

Visual Studio 2005 Introduction

• Introduction to Visual Studio 2005 Data Designer Extensibility
• Using the Server Explorer to connect to the database
• Using the Server Explorer to browse for tables and columns, view triggers and stored procedures
• How to use Drag-and-Drop components on the data toolbar
• How to set properties using the properties window
• Use the code generation wizards to build an application

Using the new Metadata capabilities of ADO.NET 2.0

• Learn about the new Metadata capabilities in ADO.NET 2.0
• Write an application using Metadata capabilities
• Leverage GetSchema
