DataDirect Shadow for ODBC

DataDirect Shadow for ODBC extends the reach of ODBC-based applications such as C, C++ by providing direct SQL access to multiple mainframe database systems including ADABAS, DB2, IMS/DB, VSAM and legacy application environments such as CICS, IMS/TM and Natural.

DataDirect Shadow for ODBCclient driver provides:

  • Application developers are able to view the mainframe as a large virtual RDBMS
  • Architects to transform mainframe assets into industry standard reusable components
  • Extended reach for C or C++ applications to access mainframe data in Adabas, CICS, DB2, IMS, Natural, VSAM and other sources
  • XA Two phase commit (2PC)
  • SQL SELECT, DELETE, INSERT and UPDATE support for mainframe database systems
  • SQL CALL statement support for mainframe programs
  • Built-in, full SQL datatype conversion
  • Code-free reuse of mainframe programs
  • Rapid installation
  • Full compatibility with the major compilers on each supported platform.
  • Full support for the ODBC 3.5 API.
  • Extensive support for ODBC application idiosyncrasies
  • Support for Static SQL access to DB2
  • Full Unicode support
  • Support for connection failover
  • Support for SSL and client-side, certificate-based authentication
  • 32-bit and 64-bit drivers

Advanced Scalability

Most mission-critical and many business-critical applications today demand high availability. Enterprise infrastructure for host integration supporting Web connectivity has grown increasingly complex. To reduce complexity, Shadow operates without requiring an intermediate gateway, eliminating complexity without reducing functionality.

Comprehensive Administration via Shadow Studio

Shadow's Studio provides outstanding diagnostic and control facilities and offer users a single, integrated solution to identify, diagnose and correct data connectivity issues between distributed ODBC, ADO.NET, and JDBC client drivers and mainframes. For automatic problem resolution, Shadow allows administrators to establish actions that will be implemented when preset performance thresholds are exceeded; ensuring problem conditions that can affect availability are immediately corrected.
